Important Class Update
Odaiko New England's contract with the Regent Theater will be terminated in 2025! We are actively looking for new spaces which can accommodate taiko classes. Any help in finding acceptable spaces would be greatly appreciated! Please see our Dojo Hunt page for more info.
About Our Classes
Odaiko New England offers introductory workshops and multi week classes for learning taiko. Each class covers different material, so check back often to see what is offered. In these classes, you will learn how to strike the drum with confidence, power, and grace. Taiko drumming combines dynamic movement and rhythmic drumming, so prepare to exercise both your body and your mind!
Come Prepared
Wear comfortable athletic clothing which allow for easy unrestricted movement of your arms and legs.
Bring ear protection. Either earplugs or ear muffs will work.
Have a bottle of water with you.
A pen and notebook can be helpful to jot down notes.
Bring your taiko spirit!
For beginner level workshops and classes, bachi (taiko drumsticks) will be provided for use. After the first month of classes, students will be expected to have their own bachi. If you would like to purchase chu-daiko bachi ( drumsticks for regular taiko drums ), Odaiko New England has a stock of these for sale. Any other types of specialty bachi should be purchased from taiko online stores such as Asano Taiko US or Kadon.

Class Calendar
The calendar shows all upcoming classes and workshops. If you have a gmail account and are signed in to Google, you may also click the "Add to Google Calendar" button here and it will automatically add all class events to your own personal calendar and give you the option to receive calendar notifications. It is possible that a class might get cancelled due to emergencies or conflicts, if this happens we will send out emails to all registered students.
If you are interested in dropping into a class that is already in session, please first reach out to juni@onetaiko.net before registering.
Getting to our Dojo

Our practices are held at the Regent Underground Theatre in Arlington, MA. To get there, look for the main entrance to the theatre, to the left of it you will see a smaller door which will take you downstairs to the underground theatre.
Ample parking is available across the street at the Russel Common Municipal Lot.
If you are taking public transit, the 77 bus can be taken from Harvard or Porter Station up Massachusetts Avenue.
Look for the "Regent Theatre Underground" awning, to the left of the main theatre entrace.
